Maria Grazia Quieti

Dr. Quieti came to AUR after serving for many years as Senior Policy Officer at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).   Dr. Quieti worked on education programs and technical assistance on sustainable food and agricultural development policies and programs with governments, academic/research institutions and civic organizations both from industrialized and developing countries.

Laura Prota

Specialized in social network analysis and rural development, Professor Prota adopts a relational approach to study the configuration of agricultural production and innovation systems under globalization. She publishes on issues related to the specificity of Southeast Asian market transition with a particular focus on place and path dependent trajectories of development, land markets, persistent poverty, gender and labor rights.

Arianna Consolandi

Dr. Consolandi has extensive research experience. Her teaching experience includes General Microbiology and Microbial Methodology Laboratory at the Biomedical Sciences Department of Università degli Studi dell’Insubria, courses in Nutrition and Food Sustainability for non-majors in science at the International Institute of Lorenzo de’ Medici (LdM) of Rome, courses in General Biology with Lab and Environmental Science for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) students. She is also the academic advisor and scientific consultant for the STEM academic offering at LdM’s Department of Science of Florence.

For Fall 2026, The American University of Rome MA in Food Studies has established a new partnership with the World Food Programme (WFP) to support the selection of 3- to 6-month internships in Italy and abroad for students in the program.

This strategic partnership offers students a unique and direct pathway into the UN system, providing hands-on experience in real operational and strategic environments, developing global professional networks, and building practical insight into international development, food security, and humanitarian action.
